The kitties look thoroughly impressed with their new Christmas outfits...actually they don't mind the outfits...just don't like photos taken of them while they are wearing them.

"Black Tailed Prairie Dog"

Black-tailed prairie dogs are often confused with other animals that are colloquially referred to as 'prairie dogs' or 'gophers'. Chief among these in Canada is the Richardson's ground squirrel. Black-tailed prarie dogs are actually much larger than ground squirrels weighing 705 - 1675 g and measuring up to 40 cm long. Males tend to be larger than females, and their weight fluctuates through the seasons. A prairie dog's weight is highest before winter, but interestingly they do not hibernate. As their name suggests, black-tailed prairie dogs differs from other prairie dogs in that it has a black tip on its tail.
