The setting sun creates a brilliant image of contrasting colour in this HDR landscape image captured in Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park in southern Alberta, Canada.

A brightly lit red sandstone outcrop looms in the foreground, while the nearest hoodoos lie in shadow. Further away, across the river valley the hoodoos and cliff faces are lit in brilliant red and orange light. Lastly, the distant Sweet Grass Hills of Montana can be seen on the horizon, beneath the cloudy gray sky, across the Canada-US border.

I went for a walk in Pavan Park today, first time I've been able to since the summer floods. There is still so much destruction, it looks like a hurricane hit. Trees uprooted and tossed aside, sidewalks and paths just washed away, fence posts just hanging over the sides of the river bed. There is very little wildlife in the park now, this little guy found his way back, hopefully others will follow.

Today, being the first sunny day we've had in weeks, I took a drive out to the Rocky Mountains. This is a picture of Frank's Slide. Turtle Mountain collapsed over 100 years ago and the whole town was buried under the rubble. They decided to leave things as they were, only putting the road and the railway tracks back in fear that someday it might happen again.
